Soooooo…

I GOT MY NEW CAMERA!!!!
Whew, just had to throw that out there. Im so excited to get it and start shooting with it. Okay, this sounds terrible, but I haven’t even got to really play with it yet. I had a senior session and shot with it, but I haven’t really got to play with HD video and my crazy ISO speeds.
With me getting my new camera, comes the overwhelming feeling and knowledge of how truly blessed and lucky I am to be able to even have this creative outlet. I love love LOVE taking pictures. And I truly love all my clients, and I am so honored to have them come into my life. I have had some really great times getting to know each and every one of them. It’s because of them that I can continue on doing what I really love and what makes me so joyful. Let me tell ya, there are no words to describe how I feel behind the lens. Peace. That’s all I can think of. I’m at peace with everything, and it is an amazing feeling. That’s not to say that there are the occasional butterflies when Im shooting a wedding and freaking out over how to get across the room full of people in about 4 seconds to get the shot I want. Weddings are a whole different ball game though, and they need a post all to themselves.

So, I didn’t want my clients to think that I’m holding their pictures for ransom and wanted to give you guys a heads up on what’s going on right now. Usually my turn around for getting your CDs to you is really quick, usually within 7 days of your shoot. But right now, wow. I’m so backed up on school and editing, it’s ridiculous! I’ll go do a shoot, then come home and do homework. I’ll upload the pictures from the session, then I get behind on my homework. I take some time to catch up on my homework, and I get behind on editing. Then I edit, then homework…you get the picture. It’s a vicious cycle really.
But school is almost over! YAY!!!!! And I’m seeing a light at the end of the tunnel! YAY!!! And I’m getting caught up on my homework! YAY!!! And I’m getting caught up on my editing! YAY!!! And I keep starting each sentence with a preposition! NOOOOOO!!! Haha

Wow, this has turned out to be a long post…

I hardly ever write on my blog, and I’ve been inspired to do a bit of writing, lol, weird for me, I know. I’ve also decided to not only feature pics from my shoots, but I want to include pics from my life as well. Why, you ask? Haha, because it’s my blog. So, I will start introducing some very special people, places, things, and anything else that I like and love.

Over the years, I learned that people will come and go, but there are some people you cant just get rid of. Jk jk
These are two of my most valuable friends. I miss them so so much, and I think that’s the reason for me wanting to share my life with you guys. I met Christina and Travis my freshman year at A&M. We had studio and a few other classes together, and were a pretty tight group. I love love love them with all my heart, and I know that I can call them for anything and they will be there.

It’s part of our degree program to do a semester away, that’s how I ended up back home doing an internship. Christina went to Spain, yes, SPAIN!! The girl is having a blast, and I get phone calls, which is AWESOME, and it makes me feel like I’m there, well, kinda not really, but still, it’s AWESOME! I sent her on a mission to bring me back old keys, not just any keys, but I’m talking old castle like skeleton cool antique keys. Christina is an absolute joy and blessing to me. This girl is so inspiring and creative. I just feed off of her energy for life and adventure. When we are together, you better watch out, there’s no telling what we’ll do. She knows my life. And she lets me shoot her.

We dressed as the green monkeys from the Legends of the Hidden Temple for halloween this past year, and won the architecture departments costume contest! We even bought the knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, and spray painted helmets. It was so much fun!

Meet my sweet pea, Travis. He also answers to babe, darling, t-rav, t-man, hottie, and many other names I have given him. This guy is one in a million, let me tell ya. He has a heart of gold (and the prettiest blue eyes), and he puts up with me and all my silly-ness. He is in landscape, and I think that suites him so well. Travis is a easy going, country boy. He loves the outdoors, and he LOVES TO TAKE PICTURES TOO!!! He completes me. : )
We have so many adventures planned for this summer, and I can’t wait!

Bring the search parties back in, I'm alive and well!
School has been NUTS and Im still trying to catch up on some stuff. I've been doing a lot of soul searching lately and I had decided to take a break from blogging for a while, but me being the forgetful one, I didn't post that I was breaking, lol, my bad. But, I've stepped back, found where my heart is and what it wants, found clarity, realized where I wanted to go with my future, looked through all my work, and am going to try and start doing some things differently. There are many surprises in the works! Im redirecting my business and I can't wait to tell and share with you where it's going, and the journey that has taken me this way. This summer is going to be amazing! I'll post all the info about that later, because it will need a whole post dedicated to itself. It will be awesome, I promise.

This is a wedding I shot with my amazing and VERY talented roomie, Sarah Giles

Meet Andrew. He is my fish. He is a boy genius. Last year, I adopted this sweetie pie and have really enjoyed cooking for him and trying to learn structures with him (or at least attempt to…). My fish is also gluten intolerant, and it’s really great to have someone to share my wheat frustrations with. One of my favorite things to do in the world is to make him blush. It just fills my world with such joy. And let me tell ya, he doesn’t just turn a peachy pink, he turns bright fire engine red.

This is one of my dearest and best friends, Peter. We met last summer when we worked together at the same firm. We go to A&M, and I have really enjoyed getting to know this fellow. He is one of the strongest, caring and compassionate people I have ever met. He knows my life, lol.

Anthropologie Trip

So for the past month an a half or so, I've been trying to plan a trip to Dallas to go to Anthropologie. Well, after many hours of online oohhh-ing and aaahhh-ing, I got to go Saturday! Yay!!
Here are just a few things I ended up with. Oh! and I got the COOLEST RED HEELS EVER!!! (but i dont have a picture of them)(tragic, i know)

And I also got some books, and a notebook, a beautiful bracelet, and a few other goodies!

P.s. I saw George W Bush at the mall when I was there. Secret service is intense btw...

This is my sister, Goose. She competed in the State Swim Meet a few weekends and ended up winning 3 medals!!
She is so dedicated to training. While I was dead asleep, Goose was getting up at 5 something to go practice at 6 in the morning! Then she would go later that evening at 7 and swim for a few more hours! I don't know about you, but I sure couldn't do that!

This past Friday I loaded up the toaster and headed on up to Madison County for my workshop. I had never been to one and was super nervous. It was hosted by the amazingly talented Shauna Maness. I loved it because it felt so personal, and it was very one on one-ish feeling. We shot an amazing couple after lunch (they are both Aggies, so how could they not be amazing?!). I had never felt like such a rockstar and so creative! (wow, I don't think I've ever written this much in a post before!)
I had the honor of meeting two fabulous photographers Alyssa and Sheila. You gals are so talented and such wonderful people to meet!

Shauna, you were amazing and such a cool person just to talk to! I enjoyed every minute Friday. Thanks again

Vignette Tutorial

Create a new layer
(ctrl+shift+N)

Select the "Rectangular marquee Tool
(N)

Draw a rectangle around the area you do not want the vignette to be

On the menu bar, go to "Select", then "Inverse"

On the menu bar, got to "Select", then "Feather"

Type in the feather radius, it will depend on the size of your picture, so you might have to play around with it...I use "50"

Select the "Paint Bucket Tool" (Make sure your color is set to black)
(G)

Fill the layer with black

Now change the opacity of the layer to taste, then merge all layers and that's it!

Hope this comes in handy!

This is my roommate Lydia and her fiancee Chris. They are so cute and God has wonderful things planned for their lives together.
On a side note... Chris has given up kissing her for lent this year. It's driving her bonkers! haha
